Intellectual Property Bill ready to receive Royal Assent

The Intellectual Property Bill, which aims to modernise certain aspects of the law relating to Intellectual Property, including laying the legislative foundation for the unitary patent and the Unified The Intellectual Property Bill, which aims to modernise certain aspects of the law relating to Intellectual Property, including laying the legislative foundation for the unitary patent and the Unified Patent Court and making other changes to patent and design law, has completed its passage through Parliament. The Bill has been through three readings before the House of Commons and it returned to the House of Lords for consideration of Commons' changes yesterday (2 April 2014). Those changes were agreed without a vote and the Intellectual Property Bill now awaits royal assent, at which point it will become law. A date for this has not yet been scheduled. Once the Bill has received royal assent, and the Act of Parliament has been published, we will summarise the key provisions on this Blog.
