Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) is granted Royal Charter

19/04/2016
Congratulations to the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) on the granting of its Royal Charter on 12 April 2016.

Congratulations to the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) on the granting of its Royal Charter on 12 April 2016.

Royal Charters are reserved for eminent professional bodies which have a long standing record of achievement in their unique field of activity. Incorporated in 1934, ITMA has played a key role in educating, representing and regulating the trade mark attorney profession and the grant of the Royal Charter is a recognition of its achievements over the past 80 years.

ITMA will now become the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA), upon the formal issue of the Great Seal of the Realm, later this year. The Charter will further enhance CITMA's role as the pre-eminent body for trade marks and designs in the UK. It will also act as a seal of quality for its members. The Royal Charter gives public recognition for the high standards of qualification, regulation and continuing professional development of CITMA's members. By using a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney, businesses will be assured of the high standard of service provided.

Many of the Fieldfisher IP team are Registered Trade Mark Attorneys and current members of ITMA and we are delighted that our qualified ITMA team members will become Chartered Trade Mark Attorneys later this year.

Further information can be found in ITMA's press release here.
