Employees may be permanently transferred or assigned to work in another country on long or on short term secondments. Some employees are constantly on the move, with responsibilities for operations in many different countries. Whatever the reason for employees working on an international basis, there are a range of employment, immigration, tax and social charge/security issues which could give rise to serious legal consequences if they are not addressed either at the outset or on termination of the assignment or employment.

Using practical case studies, this conference will guide you through the legal principles and issues to consider when dealing with internationally mobile employees. We will provide examples of the best practice approach to managing the internationally mobile employee and highlight issues that need to be addressed at the commencement of the arrangement, its continuance and at termination.

This practical high level conference will be invaluable to in-house counsel and senior HR professionals responsible for the management of employees that move from country to country either on a short term or long term basis. You will be able to ask all the questions you always wanted to ask specialists in this field. You will also receive practical material which will enable you to address every day international mobility issues.

The conference, which will be conducted in English, will be hosted by our Brussels office on Thursday 6 October 2011, from 11:00 to 16:00. The conference will be chaired by Olivier Rijckaert and led by Stefan Nerinckx, both Partners and employment law specialists in our Brussels office. Other employment/pensions law specialists will also be actively involved in the conference including Margaret Davis and David Gallagher, Partners in our London office, Laurent Guardelli, a Partner in our Paris office, Swen Schöne, a Senior Associate in our Hamburg office, and Federico Strada, a Partner in our associated Italian firm, La Scala.
