After a long lead in period, the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 will come into force on 1 October this year, seeking to provide agency workers with equality in the workplace.
The Regulations apply not only to the employment agencies that provide the workers themselves; they are also applicable to - and can create liability for - the hirers of temps and agency workers.
What is the extent of the equality regime created by the Regulations? To what extent do both agencies and the hirers of agency workers need to take steps to ensure compliance? Who might be liable if agency workers assert their rights under the Regulations?
