Published by Kluwer, the book follows the life cycle of an employment contract from hiring to termination and covers a variety of issues including protection of employee personal data, internet and email use at work, social networks, whistleblowing, working times and dress codes, including the sensitive issue of wearing religious symbols at the workplace. Copies of the book can be purchased through the Kluwer (Belgium) website.

This book is particularly timely, given the ongoing focus on privacy issues in the workplace. We will also be holding a seminar this autumn, in London, on 'Employee risk - an international perspective'. It will provide an overview of the key data security and privacy issues in the workplace, ranging from pre-employment screening, social media use and employee monitoring to cross-border data transfers, data security breaches and protecting organisations and the rights of employees. The seminar, which will cover a number of different jurisdictions, will be useful for senior HR professionals, senior managers with responsibility for data security and employee risk and in house lawyers.
