Fieldfisher, leading adviser to the employee ownership sector, is delighted to welcome the launch of The Ownership Dividend, the report of The Ownership Effect Inquiry, an independent panel of UK business leaders and industry experts chaired by Baroness Sharon Bowles.

The Inquiry heard evidence from over 100 businesses. Fieldfisher partners Graeme Nuttall OBE and Mark Gearing were among those who advised and supported the Inquiry. The Ownership Dividend is the most significant report into the UK employee ownership sector since the Nuttall Review of Employee Ownership in 2012. A panel of leading UK industry bodies has found clear evidence that employee ownership can deliver outcomes that are significantly beneficial to employees, businesses and the wider economy – the "Ownership Dividend".

The findings mirror Fieldfisher's deep experience in advising the employee ownership community, a sector that continues to grow and raise its profile within the UK economy. Fieldfisher clients that have converted to the employee ownership business model have invariably found that their businesses have gone from strength to strength.

Graeme Nuttall OBE, Fieldfisher partner and author of the Nuttall Review, said:

"The Ownership Dividend report builds on the Nuttall Review and provides valuable additional evidence of the economic case for employee ownership. It sends a strong message when over 20 independent UK business organisations support a finding that employee ownership "pays off". The time and care taken by these Panel members and those interviewed has been rewarded by this broad reaching and significant report. I am confident policymakers will take note of the report's recommendations to harness and make the most of the opportunities that EO offers to individuals, businesses and the wider UK economy. "

Baroness Sharon Bowles, The Ownership Effect Inquiry Chair said:

“The Panel’s conclusion is clear: there is a significant and valuable dividend to be obtained from creating greater amounts of employee ownership in our economy. I am proud to have chaired this independent Inquiry that has produced the most comprehensive, robust and compelling evidence about employee ownership in the UK to date supported by the academic rigour of Cass and Alliance Manchester Business Schools."
