Facebook launches new online fundraising tool

Facebook has expanded the use of its 'donate' button and launched a new fundraising platform which will compete with services such as JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving.

A report published by the Charity Commission suggests that many charities may be incorrectly overstating their governance costs in their public annual returns or their accounts.

Charities win £1.8m legacy legal battle

In a joint statement, the four charities said: "We respect the decision of the court and on behalf of everyone who benefits from our work; we would like to extend our gratitude for the bequest which has been left to our charities. We will carefully consider the judge’s comments.”.

Charity Commission alerts charities to international consultation

The Charity Commission issues an alert to charities to draw their attention to the Financial Action Task Force’s public consultation to consider amendments and updates to its Interpretative Note for Recommendation 8 focused on non-profit organisations and the risk of terrorist abuse.

Former trustee jailed

The Charity Commission responds to the sentencing of Will Clark, a former trustee of the removed charity Rainbow Rooms, who has been sentenced to 28 months for a range of offences. Four months of his sentence relate to the charge of supplying false information to the Commission.
