Fieldfisher sponsored triathlete wins Gold in Australia

25/04/2016

On Sunday morning, Andy Lewis, Fieldfisher's sponsored paratriathlete, won gold in his first event of the season in Australia.

Andy was taking part in the International Triathlon Union's event in Penrith, Australia, where he was competing against some of the world's top paratriathletes.  The event comprised of a 750m open water swim, a 20km bike ride and a 5km run. In spite of the fact that he has been carrying an injury for much of the early season which has limited his ability to run, Andy dominated the race from start to finish. Andy was first out of the water in a time of 10:49, was the quickest on the bike with a time of 35:29, and finished off with the fastest run of the day with a time of 22:03. His overall time of 1:10:47 saw him cross the line nearly four minutes ahead of the second place finisher, the local favourite, Brant Garvey.

Following the race Andy very kindly sent us a short video message to thank everyone at Fieldfisher for their support. We are delighted and proud to be sponsoring Andy, and this result has given him the best possible chance of securing qualification for the Paralympics in Rio in September 2016.
