19/07/2017
Fieldfisher was out in support of Action Mesothelioma Day on Friday 7th July. This is an annual event that takes place nationally as a tribute to those that have been affected by mesothelioma and as a way to raise awareness of the disease.

Peter Williams, Head of Asbestos Claims at Fieldfisher, was at the Royal Dockyard Church in Kent. The Deputy Mayor of Medway was in attendance and doves were released to commemorate victims of asbestos related diseases.

A public meeting was held to discuss a range of topics, such as support for asbestos victims, the care and treatment of patients and associated legal issues. Speakers included Professor Anne Bowcock from Imperial College, Dr Helen McGee from Hospice in the Weald, and Mavis and Roy Nye, who are both passionate asbestos and mesothelioma campaigners.

Bridget Collier, Senior Associate within the Fieldfisher Asbestos Claims Team, was in Manchester in support of Action Mesothelioma Day. A public meeting was held following the release of doves. This meeting was hosted by Professor Sir Anthony Newman-Taylor, Chair of the National Mesothelioma Research Centre at the Mechanics Institute.

In London, a moving memorial service was held at Guy's Chapel and afterwards a dove release at Southwark Cathedral Courtyard. Shaheen Mosquera, a Solicitor within the Fieldfisher Asbestos Claims Team was in attendance. Following the dove release at Southwark Cathedral, a number of talks were held to discuss asbestos related diseases and their impact. Speakers included Dr Peter Szlosarek of St Bartholomew's Hospital and Alison Cook, Director of Policy for the British Lung Foundation.

Fieldfisher is proud to be out in support of Action Mesothelioma Day, and helping to raise awareness of the impact that this disease has on people's lives.
