Elderly patients being denied routine operations

Patients are being left in pain and discomfort as latest research reveals that the number of hip, knee and cataract operations fall to their lowest level in five years. The data contained in Dr Foster's annual Hospital Guide indicates that the number of these vital procedures done have not kept rising in line with the ageing population as would be expected. Age UK condemns this as evidence of 'ageism' in NHS patient care.
