Compensation for a child who suffered a brain injury at birth at Addenbrooke's Hospital

09/12/2013
A child who suffered a brain injury at birth after being starved of oxygen at Addenbrookes Hospital will receive £7.6 million from Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust after being represented by Manori Wellington.

The child was diagnosed with cerebral palsy after medical mistakes had been made by the hospital. The hospital accepted full responsibility for the brain injury after the claim was put to them and will pay a lump sum of £3.5 million along with annual payments of £73,753 increasing to £141,000 once the child reaches the age of 19. These payments are necessary for the constant care that the child will now require as a result of these injuries.
