ABI backs PI lawyer involvement in ELTO

26/04/2010

Andrew Morgan is quoted in an article about personal injury involvement in the Employers' Liability Tracing Office. The Post Magazine story published on 22 April 2010 said that the Association of British Insurers has welcomed the idea of involving personal injury lawyers' data in the Employers' Liability Tracing Office.

The Post says this follows from plans released earlier this month which outlined the ABI and Motor Insurers' Bureau's intention to establish a £2m central database of employers liability cases.

Andrew Morgan, partner in our personal injury department said it was vital that the ELTO has significant consumer and legal representation."It would be essential to have claimant and personal injury representatives, and possibly a wider consumer representation, to ensure a level of independence.

"I would not want such an important system to be left entirely in the hands of the insurer paymasters. There would be an apparent conflict of interest in doing that".
