Fieldfisher secure compensation for man who suffered permanent damage to his leg after fall

Our client Mike was unlucky enough to fall into a cellar which had been mistakenly left open. He suffered severe damage to his right leg, which meant he needed three operations. He has been left with a permanent limp and in constant pain, lacking in energy, unable to play fully with is young son or purse the active life he led before 
the accident.

Mike prided himself on the 24/7 service he offered the clients of his high-end residential construction business, mainly based in and around Chelsea. His ex-wife described him as ‘brilliant at what he did, completely committed to his clients’.

The accident meant he was unable to provide such a hands-on service and his business suffered to such a degree, it went into liquidation in April 2015, leaving Mike heavily in debt and very depressed about letting down employees and colleagues. He also had to move rental property to be nearer public transport because of his limited mobility. He has been told he is at high risk of developing post traumatic osteoarthritis and may need an ankle replacement in the future.
