Damages for road traffic accident in Taunton
Irene, aged 55 at the time, was driving back to her home outside Taunton in Somerset, having finished work for the day, when she was hit from behind by the defendant driver.
As a result of the impact Irene sustained whiplash type symptoms. She also suffered from psychiatric symptoms and was unable to return to her job as a cleaner, as a result of her post accident condition.
We were instructed in August 2010 to represent Irene.
The defendant driver claimed that Irene had turned from a side road, directly in front of him, leaving him no time to avoid colliding with Irene's vehicle.
Liability remained disputed despite attempts to settle the claim without the need to issue court proceedings.
Given the continued denial of liability we issued proceedings and obtained expert reports from an expert orthopaedic surgeon and psychiatrist.
We were able to settle the claim on Irene's behalf, without an admission of liability.
