£210,000 damages awarded for a family effected by asbestos illness

Lynette was negligently exposed to asbestos on her husbands work clothes which she inhaled during laundering and developed mesothelioma.

This was a public liability or 'shakedown' case - our personal injury team was asked to take over the claim from other solicitors as there were complex issues related to public liability insurance and the interpretation of when insurance coverage would be activated. This necessitated careful understanding of the biological development of mesothelioma in order to determine what would constitute injury for the purpose of identifying the correct insurer to proceed against.

Unusually, Lynette survived 6 years from the onset of her symptoms, and we were able to obtain damages of £210,000 for Lynette's surviving husband and family.
