Fieldfisher advises Sonova Retail Deutschland GmbH on the acquisition of Essen-based Hörsysteme Ansgar Wessling GmbH

Sonova Retail Deutschland GmbH, part of the Swiss Sonova Group, a leading global provider of innovative hearing solutions, has made a strategic acquisition with the complete takeover of Hörsysteme Ansgar Wessling GmbH from Essen. Sonova received comprehensive legal advice on the transaction from a Fieldfisher team led by Partner Jan Hartmann and Counsel Slaven Kovacevic.

With its innovative solutions and one of the most comprehensive ranges in the industry, Sonova is one of the world's leading providers of hearing products. In Germany, the company is successful with Sonova Retail Deutschland GmbH and its GEERS brand, among others. With around 750 locations and 2,500 employees throughout Germany, the company is the market leader in the hearing acoustics retail business. With this acquisition, Sonova Retail Deutschland GmbH is once again strengthening its own portfolio and its market presence in the retail service network for hearing aids in the densely populated Ruhr region in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Founded in 1993 by former Olympic rowing champion Ansgar Wessling, Hörsysteme Ansgar Wessling GmbH is one of the leading hearing aid acousticians in the region with a total of 15 branches in Essen, Gelsenkirchen and Recklinghausen and is one of the top 100 acousticians in Germany. The company offers a wide range of products and associated services. A particular focus is on modern and discreet hearing aids.

Sonova is a global leader in hearing aids and audio technology headquartered in Stäfa, Switzerland. The company develops, manufactures and markets advanced hearing aids and cochlear implants. Sonova is active in over 100 countries and has subsidiaries in over 30 countries as well as a network of independent distributors in additional markets.
