I have a reputation for providing sensible, timely, strategic advice and identifying legal solutions that get results as quickly as possible. I have particular experience acting in major disputes linked with the Russia/CIS region, and advising governments, large international companies and HNW individuals on a variety of business critical issues including contractual, shareholder, fraud, negligence, regulatory and whistle blower disputes around the world.
I act for clients in the English High Court, in international arbitrations (including LCIA, ICC, SCC and ad hoc arbitrations), and in support of legal proceedings in other jurisdictions. I have been ranked as a key individual for commercial litigation, international arbitration and civil fraud in the Legal 500 - 2019 directory and have been consistently recognised for my Russia and CIS disputes expertise. I often act for technology, media, retail, ENR and financial service sector clients.
My recent work includes successfully defending two of the five western banker defendants in one of the Lawyer magazine's "Top 20 Cases of 2019" in the English High Court in Yukos Finance BV & others v. Stephen Lynch & others EWHC 2621 (Comm). In this case a Fieldfisher team that I co-led secured a total victory in the Commercial Court claim that ran for more than 3 years in relation to valuable Yukos assets.
I have also acted in a number of cases that have set important precedents in various jurisdictions, including in relation to the law regarding service, enforcement of English court judgments abroad and challenges to arbitral awards in the English High Court. This included recently leading the team that successfully served proceedings relating to a £1bn claim in the English High Court personally on an UHNW non-resident in the English jurisdiction (and confirmed the present test for such service) in Alexander Gorbachev v Andrey Grigoryevich Guriev EWHC 2684 (Comm).
I am a regular speaker at Russian and CIS Arbitration Network (RCAN) events, where I am also a founder and Executive Committee member. I am a member of the LCIA's Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) and the London Solicitors Litigation Association (LSLA).
I am a Russian speaker.
In my spare time I enjoy cycling, cricket, and rugby and supporting these passions in my children.
