I am an experienced international arbitration lawyer and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators with particular expertise in the oil & gas, construction, (re)insurance, mining, and hotel sectors.
I have led numerous multi-billion dollar international arbitrations and related litigation across the globe, including test cases in the English courts. I have arbitrated in all the major institutions including the LCIA, ICC, SIAC, SCC, ICSID, and numerous other Asian arbitration centres.
I have experience of both investor-state and commercial internal arbitrations and have advised clients on their business losses flowing from significant disasters including 9/11, the Asian Tsunami 2004, Arab Spring 2009/10, Japanese Tsunami 2011 and Thai Floods 2011.
Currently, I am focused on advising investors and states in emerging markets including the CIS and Central Asia states and sub-Saharan Africa.
I have lived and worked in Southern Africa, the UK, the USA and Singapore which has provided me with a unique perspective of the different cultural and business landscapes. This has proven invaluable to my clients when considering the most appropriate approach to adopt when resolving disputes in those regions.
I have been named as a leading individual in international arbitration and insurance in various legal directories, including Chambers, Legal 500, and Who's Who Insurance & Reinsurance Experts 2011 - 2015.
My professional memberships include The Society of Construction Law, BILA, AIPN and the Law Society of England & Wales and I am a former committee member of the Insurance Law Association of Singapore. I speak regularly at industry and legal conferences globally and have lectured in Vietnam and Singapore on insurance law issues.
