Within the Fieldfisher Technology and Data team, he provides strategic and practical advice on data protection compliance issues relating to IT and telecommunications law. He's advised start-ups and multinational companies in both contentious and non-contentious matters. He has a particular interest in privacy challenges relating to new digital technologies and services (blockchain, 5G, IoT, AI, cookies, etc.)
 
In the past, Louis has been seconded as a privacy manager to Telenet, where he helped oversee the roll-out of their GDPR program. He has also been seconded as legal counsel to Ingersoll Rand, gaining ample experience in commercial contract negotiation in both French, Dutch, English and Spanish.
 
Louis joined the Brussels Bar in 2018. Prior to joining the bar, he worked as legal counsel for Worldline.

He earned his J.D. in law from the University of Ghent in 2016. obtaining a specialsed LL.M. degree in intellectual property, media and ICT law, at the K.U. Leuven in 2018. In the course thereof, he wrote a dissertation on the interplay between the GDPR and Distributed Ledger Technologies.

Louis is a Dutch native speaker and speaks fluent English.  He also has a professional working proficiency of both French and Spanish.

Louis is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/ Europe (CIPP/E).
