Fieldfisher LLP has been awarded a contract by the UK's Department for Business and Trade to advise it on negotiations with Switzerland for an updated Free Trade Agreement.

Fieldfisher was appointed to the UK Government's International Trade Law Panel in February 2021. The recent appointment to support the Switzerland negotiations follows a number of awards for the Fieldfisher international trade team under the Panel.

Fieldfisher is proud to partner with two boutique international trade law firms - RRH Consultores and AppletonLuff – to provide a 'one team' approach that offers a global perspective on international trade law negotiations and disputes. Fieldfisher has joined with Vischer, a leading Swiss firm, to provide advice on the constitutional and regulatory framework in Switzerland.

Together, the team will be able to provide comprehensive advice to support the UK Government's negotiations on one of the UK's most complex and important trading relationships.

Andrew Hood, head of Fieldfisher's London Trade Team, said "We are delighted to have been appointed to advise on this flagship trade negotiation. It is testament to the strength and depth of our trade team and the global insights we offer alongside trusted and experienced partners. Together with the highly regarded law firm Vischer, we are committed to providing the UK Government comprehensive first-class support."

Fieldfisher and its partners were selected following a competitive panel-wide tender process, based on the strength of their expertise in international trade negotiations and treaty drafting as well as the experience of their Swiss-based partner in constitutional and regulatory matters.
