Seven-figure sum recovered for lead singer who was involved in serious RTA

Jill Greenfield acted on behalf of Keith, who suffered catastrophic brain damage after being hit as a pedestrian when crossing the road. Unfortunately, Keith suffered a very severe brain injury which led to a very difficult recovery.

Initially, whilst in a hospital ward, Keith was in a very poor state. His behaviour was aggressive to such an extent that it was clear that the hospital were considering sending him to a more secure unit. At this point we were able to intervene and with the benefit of an interim payment from the defendant insurers we employed private carers to support our client, whilst still on an NHS ward. When it was time to leave hospital the only offer to him for accommodation was for sheltered accommodation in an old folk’s home.

We were able to move him to privately rented accommodation. The flat has the benefit of a concierge style porter, a shop and cafĂ© and a gym. Keith has a full complement of therapists and carers to assist him in his recovery and now lives independently in his flat; a great achievement for both Keith and
his family.

Even though our client does require some support, he has now made a very good recovery. Our team has managed to recover a seven-figure sum, ensuring that Keith will have sufficient funds to assist him throughout the rest of his life.

Key to Keith’s rehabilitation was regular access to music therapy. As a musician of some renown, it was important for him to re-establish his musical roots.

A carer was hired who was able to help him to work on his music. Keith now manages to play small gigs, which is something that he really enjoys and is of great benefit to him.
