I have almost 30 years' experience in acting for lenders and borrowers in distressed lending situations, insolvency practitioners, directors of troubled companies and other stakeholders.

I have particular experience in the retail, property and oil and gas sectors, although my practice is wide ranging. I have advised extensively in relation to Debenhams, House of Fraser, Byron Burger and Arcadia Group, and have advised the administrators of a well-known national kitchen appliance company.  I have advised the administrators of two separate north west based property companies, in both cases clarifying and extending the law in relation to paragraph 71 of the Insolvency Act 1986.  I have also advised the administrators of a multi-national oil company in extending the law on a shift of COMI for non-domiciled companies.

What others say…

I worked with Michelle on a property insolvency requiring significant legal input. Michelle’s experience meant she was able to provide commercial and practical insolvency advice that focused on a clear path to providing a solution for me and ultimately the company’s creditors. Michelle’s experience is difficult to find elsewhere in the Restructuring legal market.
