I head the Environmental & Renewable Energy department providing advice, litigation and forensic expertise to international companies, particularly in the waste, chemicals, aeronautics, aerospace, automotive, logistics and renewable energy sectors.

I assist at all stages of projects, providing day-to-day support on operational management issues, facilitating relationships with the authorities and assisting with the negotiation and drafting of environmental provisions in M&A and real estate transactions.

I have acquired recognized expertise in waste management and circular economy issues (waste/products, extended producer responsibility schemes, etc.) and in the management of contaminated land (on-site and off-site health risk management, brownfield redevelopment, third party applicants, etc.).

I am a graduate of the Universities of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne (Master of Private Law, 1997; DEA in Environmental Law, 1998) and the University of London King's College (LLB, 1997). I was admitted to the Paris Bar in 2000.

Before joining Fieldfisher, I built up a very solid practice over 13 years with the Winston & Strawn Environment team.

I am bilingual in French and English.

What others say…

Fieldfisher's Marie-Léonie Vergnerie's team frequently works on cross-practice matters. The two-lawyer practice recently advised on new polluted property financing schemes and on newly entwined waste management and antitrust issues. The team, which notably has strong waste management expertise, was in high demand for strategic advice on the implementation of new circular economy schemes regulation. It is also consulted on environmental liability and advises clients on the sale of contaminated sites and on pollution issues, including dealing with crisis management and litigation. The practice is also sought out to assist in the context of M&A transactions. Leading industrial companies including Honeywell and Safran are among its clients. Associate Vanessa Kurukgy also provides strong support
