Fieldfisher Frankfurt fosters Ladies in FinTech

08/11/2021

Fieldfisher FinTech experts Dr. Katja Michel and Kirsten Ammon recently hosted their first 'Ladies in (Fin-)Tech' event in Fieldfisher's Frankfurt office. The event, moderated by Katja, was to encourage networking and visibility in the field of FinTech and attracted 70 participants, demonstrating the importance of the topics to the audience.

The Ladies in (Fin-)Tech live panel included Kirsten and four high-profile voices from the German FinTech industry:

The event was organized in cooperation with Lucia Falkenberg of the Eco-Verband e.V. (the German Internet Association), for which Oliver Süme (Fieldfisher Technology, Outsourcing and Privacy Partner), was recently re-elected CEO.

Combining regulatory and finance law from Katja, (who also Co-Heads Fieldfisher Germany's Tech Meets Finance Group) with privacy and tech law from Kirsten (CIPP/E, CIPM and Tech Meets Finance Group member), both perfectly complemented each other on the topic by providing different perspectives on FinTech.

Besides the significance of visibility in (social) media and tech panels, personal branding and networking skills, the focus of the discussion was on leadership and female empowerment. The panellists also discussed innovative founding capabilities and challenges for women entrepreneurs, diversity, structural and legal framework conditions (e.g. female quotas). The panel also considered channels of influence such as mentoring and role models.

After the main discussion, the panel invited participants to put their networking knowledge into action. Attendees had the opportunity to exchange their individual experiences and give insights in breakout sessions moderated by the panellists, Ms Falkenberg and Katja.

Katja and Kirsten also shared their views on related topics in a post-event interview (currently only available in German here) and soon to be published in English on dotmagazine.online.

Hosted by Fieldfisher's Tech Meets Finance Group, and created by Katja and Kirsten, the event was the first in a new series on FinTech and female empowerment. Katja and Kirsten are already planning a follow-up live event for next year, provided the COVID-19 situation allows for it.

The event is significant for Fieldfisher in its Diversity and Inclusion aims. While the topic was the direction of female empowerment, the event was also successfully organized by a group of women, particularly from Fieldfisher's Marketing department.
