Fieldfisher has advised euNetworks on a strategic acquisition in Belgium to extend its dark fibre network.

euNetworks, a leading Western European bandwidth infrastructure company, acquired the dark fibre business branch of a Belgian utility company. The transaction adds 1,660km of duct-based fibre network, with unique routes in Brussels and throughout the country, close proximity to 13 data centres, additional high-bandwidth sites and compelling investment opportunities to extend the infrastructure into adjacent geographies for euNetworks’ customers.

This transaction, which further strengthens euNetworks’ leadership in European infrastructure, is expected to close before the end of April 2023.

Client relationship partner James Walsh (Technology) worked alongside corporate partner Louis-François du Castillon (Corporate) on the transaction with a cross-office team from the firm's Brussels and London offices including Dorothée Vanderhofstadt (Corporate), Wouter Vandorpe (Regulatory), Lionel Wellekens (Tax), Louis Sas (Corporate), Geoffroy Galéa (Tax) and Jordan Cliffe (Technology).

James comments, "We have been delighted to support euNetworks with its European growth with this strategic acquisition. The transaction will no doubt help euNetworks to continue to lead the competition with data centre to data centre connectivity in region. The ability to leverage our firm's network in Belgium to help navigate the specific local law intricacies of the project was key to success."
