Professional background

Professional background

I work on a wide range of commercial disputes involving both individuals and corporate entities, often in different sectors and across multiple jurisdictions. I have a varied experience of litigious and arbitral matters involving contractual disputes, competition law, personal injury as well as working on judicial reviews, public inquiries and inquests.

Examples of recent client work include:

  • Bringing claims valued at over US$8b in an ICC interstate arbitration involving treaty breaches in the energy sector and issues of international and foreign law;
  • Representing thousands of foreign nationals in a case involving the largest Property Freezing Order over cryptocurrency ever made under POCA;
  • Defending a high-net-worth client in respect of a fraud claim valued at over US$2b involving complex issues of Ukrainian law and jurisdiction;
  • Acting for a Nigerian energy client in LCIA proceedings in a contractual dispute brought against a Singaporean manufacturing company; and
  • Assisting an environmental NGO in bringing an Aarhus Convention judicial review claim against DEFRA / Ofwat.

I have a particular interest in the energy / environmental sectors and novel claims arising therein, including greenwashing and climate damages attribution cases. I cofounded the firm's working group for The Chancery Lane Project, an initiative that upskills lawyers in climate-aligned contractual drafting to assist clients in their net zero transitions. I have been a member of the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA) since 2019 and am actively involved in the firm's Sustainability Committee and ESG initiatives.

I also take on a number of pro bono matters including recently lodging an ad hoc Article 8 ECHR immigration application with the Home Office, seeking leave to remain in the UK on behalf of my client.

Before studying English law, I completed a BA in Philosophy and Political Science at McGill University in Canada. I am a native French speaker and a permanent resident of Hong Kong.

Q2 2024 - Fieldfisher's Commercial Crime Round-up

29.07.2024
With thanks to Annabel Twose, Fieldfisher trainee, for her assistance in drafting this article. Welcome to the Q2 edition of the Fieldfisher Corporate Crime update. With some disruption experienced due to the general election, most notably the resultant delay in publishing the highly anticipated guidance on the failure to prevent fraud offence and the falling to the wayside of the Criminal Finance Bill, it has nonetheless been a busy quarter.
