It covers the establishment of a wide range of UK and international products and services – regulated and alternative, of all types of insurance and pension products, and often involving the creation of novel product structures. Also I advise a wide range of clients on a diverse spectrum of financial services regulatory matters – from perimeter issues, to complying with conduct of business rules and assessing the impact of implementation of EU Directives, to devising regulations from first principles - notably in relation to rule books for DPB professional bodies.
I like to take a keen interest in working with the industry in relation to proposals for legal and regulatory changes, both in the UK and internationally. I am a member of the UK FCA's Legal Experts Group regarding implementation of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive. For Lexis Nexis, I am a member of their Consulting Editorial Board. I am immediate past Co-Chair of the International Bar Association's Investment Funds Committee and participated in the Financial Services Section of the IBA's LPD Council.
Regular seminar speaking commitments offer an ideal opportunity to share views on current hot topics and to meet leading lights in the financial services sector. Currently I am Co-Chair of the Organising Committee of the IBA's Globalisation of Investment Funds Conference, working with ICI Global in 2014. Recent commitments include presenting a paper on UCITS developments at a conference organised by ERA, which is supported by the European Union, in Trier; chairing a panel for IBA on retail regulatory developments in Boston; and writing an article on AIFMD for Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Banking, Finance and Transactional Lawyers.
