Joanne Uiterwijk

I advise and represent clients in both commercial and corporate litigation, with a primary focus on commercial disputes. My practice covers a broad range of contractual matters, including interpretation issues, performance disputes and termination-related claims.

In addition, I have extensive experience drafting and reviewing a wide variety of commercial contracts and general terms and conditions. In addition, work on insolvency-related matters.

Alongside my client work, I act as a supervising associate, mentoring and guiding junior lawyers within the team.

During my studies, I gained hands-on experience as a clerk at the Court of Appeal in Leeuwarden, as a legal intern at leading law firms, and as a research intern in the procedural law department of the University of Groningen.

I am a member of the Association of Young Litigation Lawyers (Vereniging Jonge Procesadvocaten, VJP), the Association of Young Insolvency Lawyers (Vereniging Jonge Insolventierecht Advocaten, JIRA) and the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA). I also serve on the Advisory Board of the Law Faculty at the University of Groningen.

I have registered the following principal legal practice area in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister): Contract Law (Verbintenissenrecht). Based on this registration, I am required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
