I am a senior associate in the public and regulatory law group, having joined the firm in 2009.

I act for a number of bodies with regulatory responsibilities, advising on matters of fitness to practise, professional standards and public law principles, including supporting regulators facing judicial review challenges. I regularly advise clients on issues of statutory interpretation, vires and the exercise of statutory powers and duties.

I have considerable experience in investigating and preparing cases for presentation before disciplinary panels. Recently, I prepared the case concerning Dr Freddy Patel for presentation before the Fitness to Practise Panel of the General Medical Council, in relation to his post-mortem of Ian Tomlinson following the G20 protests.

I have particular expertise in advising police authorities/police and crime commissioners in relation to complaints and misconduct allegations against senior police officers and in providing support during periods of statutory change in connection with transitional arrangements and governance issues. I recently completed a 17-month secondment to Metropolitan Police Authority (now Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime).

I am currently on secondment as Solicitor to the Macur Review, which has been established to review the scope of the Waterhouse Inquiry - into allegations of child abuse in North Wales care homes and whether any specific allegations of child abuse were not investigated by the Inquiry.

I am a member of the Association of Regulatory & Disciplinary Lawyers and the Young Public Lawyers Group.
