Head of Serious Injury sector Jill Greenfield has been included this year's list of top lawyers compiled by The Lawyer.
During the past year, Jill has featured strongly in the press because of her involvement in the #MeToo movement, while running civil claims for alleged sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein and other high-profile defendants. Jill recently spoke at BAFTA about the UK legal landscape for victims of sexual assault and will speak again in February at a #Times Up event.
Also featured in the press, Jill and her team continue to act for victims of terrorist attack at Westminster Bridge and Finsbury Park Mosque. Their cases against the Motor Insurance Bureau involve the use of vehicles as weapons and the possibility of aggravated damages based on the intent behind the attack. If successful, this will impact similar legal cases in the future. Jill's involvement in these cases followed a former campaign to widen the financial support available for victims of terrorism.
Elsewhere, Jill achieved more than £10m in damages for a cyclist and a pedestrian catastrophically injured on the roads, one an amputee, the other left brain-damaged. Jill is known for the speed with which she intervenes with insurers to secure funds for medical treatment and rehabilitation for clients. She also campaigns to raise awareness of the dangers of E-coli, particularly in environments such as petting zoos, and acts for several children suffering lifelong kidney damage as a result of contracting the infection.
Jill has been a partner at Fieldfisher for more than 13 years and has become known for advocating change to certain areas of personal injury law to better protect victims. Jill led her team to win the Solicitors Journal 'Personal Injury Team of the Year 2017' and was shortlisted for Woman Lawyer of the Year 2018 at the Law Society Excellence Awards.
