Andy Lewis wins third gold of the year at world championships in Rotterdam

Andy Lewis, the paratriathlete that Fieldfisher has sponsored since August 2015, won his third gold of the season at the International Triathlon Union World Championships in Rotterdam this weekend – his final race before the event makes its Paralympics debut at the Rio games this summer.

The success follows on from gold wins at the World Triathlon Series in Penrith, Australia, and the European Championships.

Fieldfisher has sponsored Andy Lewis for almost a year, with managing partner Michael Chissick stating at the time that the "sponsorship demonstrates [the firm's] commitment to diversity and inclusion in and out of the workplace."

Andy lost his leg in a road accident when he was just 16 years old, and decided to take up triathlon following the 2012 Paralympics.

Mark Bowman, partner in Fieldfisher's Personal Injury and Medical Negligence group, who introduced the firm to Andy, said: "When I first met Andy it was clear that he had the commitment, drive and talent to be a star in his field. His results were already promising, especially as he had only taken up the sport three years previously. His results this year have been nothing short of phenomenal and he now goes to Rio as a real gold medal prospect.

"I am thrilled that our support has enabled Andy to concentrate on his training and assisted in enabling him to purchase the best possible equipment to give him a competitive edge on the other athletes. I hope he is an inspiration to our staff and our clients as he continues to triumph in the face of adversity."
