Reinforcing our Italy focus with Milan launch

European law firm Fieldfisher has established its new operation in Italy, with a Milan office launch on 10th April 2024.

The new office is part of Fieldfisher's integrated firm. It initially consists of five partners, six directors and 15 lawyers, with a total headcount of 26 people. It is based in the centre of Milan, next to the Duomo, the city's most recognisable landmark.

The team is led by Alessandro Mulinacci as its Country Managing Partner, and includes Partners Diego Rigatti, Ettore Bonaccorsi, Michele Ghiringhelli and Giuseppe Limido, who worked with Fieldfisher previously.

The client services will initially focus on the team's core expertise in corporate and M&A, energy dispute resolution, IP, transfer pricing and tax, for which the team is highly regarded in the local market. The team has long acted for a stellar roster of clients including the country's leading banks, corporates, manufacturing companies and retailers.

Having previously worked with Fieldfisher, the Italian partners are already adept at acting alongside their international colleagues on cross-border matters for Italian clients. This collaboration will only increase with a new office set up.

This development comes after Fieldfisher ended its arrangement with its local partner in Italy. Italy remains an important market for Fieldfisher and, with this move, will continue to form an integral part of the firm's European growth strategy.

Fieldfisher’s Managing Partner Robert Shooter said:

We have had a long-standing presence in the Italian market, assisting clients across industry sectors and forging strong commercial relationships along the way. With our new business operations on the ground, we want to take our focus on Italy further, making it an integral part of our European platform. This will be hugely advantageous to our Italian clients, who will benefit from our integrated cross-practice and cross-border capabilities and a collaborative approach we bring to our client services.

I am delighted that we will be joined by Alessandro and his team, as we embark on our next chapter with Fieldfisher Italy. They are just the team to help us fulfil our ambitions in this important market for the firm."

Alessandro Mulinacci, Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Italy said:

"I am delighted to be joining Fieldfisher and launching its new Milan office with an exceptional team of lawyers and other professionals. We have worked collaboratively with Fieldfisher for a number of years now and have fantastic relationships across the firm.

With the new Milan office, working as one firm, we will be able to combine our local expertise with Fieldfisher's global reach to offer a truly comprehensive service to our existing Italian clients and those entering the Italian market. We look forward to working with our colleagues across the firm's practices and sectors to further strengthen Fieldfisher's foothold in Italy going forward."

Most recently, as part of its European expansion, Fieldfisher entered Austria, with an office opening in Vienna in June 2023. In 2022, it opened its fifth office in Germany, with a launch of Fieldfisher X, a specialist, mass litigation business unit in Berlin. The firm's international network currently stretches across 12 countries in Europe and worldwide.
