European law firm Fieldfisher has raised over £250,000 for its charity partners across its international network of 26 offices in 12 countries as part of the firm’s One Firm Action initiative.

We’re delighted to share that Fieldfisher has surpassed its One Firm Action target of £250,000. The partnership will match funds raised up to £250,000, effectively doubling the collective fundraising pot to over £500,000.

Celebrating One Firm Action Day today (7 November 2023), this day marks the culmination of this significant fundraising year and the biggest fundraise in the firm’s history.

Today, the firm will also foreground the achievements of individual colleagues and teams at its annual Just Purpose awards, which acknowledge the firm’s dedicated pro bono, community, and sustainability activities.

Launched in December 2022, One Firm Action was borne out of one of Managing Partner, Robert Shooter’s leadership pledges and represents a sustained effort by the firm's international network of offices to address local and global issues while actively fundraising throughout the year.

With activities held across the firm’s 26 offices spanning 12 countries, this initiative, aimed at bringing people together, fostering a responsible business ethos, and making an impact in local and global communities, saw active participation from members across the firm, including trainees, business services, and partners.

Fieldfisher employees enthusiastically took to the challenge organising a variety of interactive events from sponsored runs to football tournaments and bake-offs. Key fundraising highlights include:

  • Hosting a lively charity dinner event at the famous Long Room at Lord’s Cricket Ground on the eve of the final Test Match in the eagerly anticipated 2023 Ashes Series between England and Australia, raising over £17,000 in a raffle and silent auction.
  •  A ‘Strictly’ Fieldfisher dance competition organised by our Manchester office, with colleagues competing to be crowned the winner, raising over £12,500.
  • Colleagues from the firm’s Brussels, London and Paris office teaming up to take part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
  • Fieldfisher trainees and apprentices successfully climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, which involved 23 miles of walking and a total ascent of over 3000m raising almost £6,000.
  • Fieldfisher’s newest office in Vienna, took part in a ‘Night Run’ to raise funds to go towards projects for reforestation and climate protection.

The funds raised have been donated to over 15 of dynamic charities operating across Europe and as far as Madagascar. The charities the firm is supporting are; Amici di Ampasilava, ARC Cancer Support CentresAware NI, Bicycleat, Blue Life sustainability initiativeChancenwerk, Hamilton Families, La Cime, Main dans la main et solidaires, Manchester Youth Zone, Matchis, Papyrus, Rooting for Change, St. Anna Children's Cancer Research and Zoë's Place Baby Hospice.

These charitable organisations work across a spectrum of crucial concern areas globally and locally, addressing issues such as climate change, health, homelessness, mental health and social mobility.

Proceeds from Fieldfisher’s efforts will contribute towards creating real change such as, funding support groups for people with depression and bipolar disorder, keeping the doors open of hospices, refurbishing hospital wards and providing shelter for the homeless.

Solicitor Apprentice, Andrea Carrera who took part in and organised various fundraising activities commented: "Taking part in the One Firm Action initiative has been a fantastic way of giving back to the community, while working towards being a fully qualified lawyer. Being given the opportunity to collaborate with different people, from all levels across the network, who share the same vision, to help very worthy causes, shows how Fieldfisher places great importance on people and the wider community."

Managing Partner Robert Shooter underscored the initiative's importance, stating: "One Firm Action is an integral part of our firmwide ESG efforts. It also embodies our global outlook and commitment to collaboration by bringing our people together to support our charity partners across the network,

He added: “It's been inspiring to see the enthusiasm and dedication shown by our teams as they actively engage in this initiative, striving to make a positive impact in our communities and beyond."
