BBC Worldwide will take a ten per cent stake in the literary and talent agency in return for its investment.

European law firm Fieldfisher has advised long-standing client BBC Worldwide on its investment in Curtis Brown, the literary and talent agency, in return for a ten per cent stake.

BBC Worldwide will take a ten per cent stake in a newly-formed parent company for Curtis Brown and its production arm Cuba Pictures, called Original Talent Ltd.  BBC Worldwide has had a partnership with Cuba Pictures since 2014, and the new arrangement will bring the two organisations even closer, with an extension of BBC Worldwide's right of first refusal across all television output until 2021.  It is hoped that the deal will lead to a greater number of authors' works making it to production.

The Fieldfisher team was led by Andrew Blankfield, supported by Andrew Prowse, Mark Gearing, Robin Spender, Igor Stermsek, Alex James, David Hill and Jessica Knowles.

Fieldfisher is a leading law firm for the media sector, advising clients from start-ups to large multinational corporations, ensuring that transactions not only comply with regulatory and legal needs but that they also make sense for the client's business. The group is experienced in all areas of the sector, including in rights licensing, branded content, digital media, corporate finance, asset production, financing, data production and dispute resolution.
