Fieldfisher has advised its long standing client BBC Worldwide Limited and the shareholders of Ragdoll Limited on the sale of their joint venture Ragdoll Worldwide Limited to Canadian entertainment group DHX Media. Ragdoll Worldwide was established as a joint venture in 2006 between BBC Worldwide, BBC’s commercial arm, and Ragdoll Limited.

The deal, valued at £17.4m, transfers to DHX Media twelve series, including The Adventures of Abney & Teal, Dipdap and Brum, in addition to 365 episodes of Teletubbies, 52 episodes of Teletubbies Everywhere and 100 episodes of In the Night Garden.

The Fieldfisher team was led by partner Andrew Blankfield and senior associate Carlton Durrant. It also included corporate associates Ruth Lewis and Marianne Lasserre, and paralegal Blandine Lanternier. The corporate team was supported by tax partners Andrew Prowse and Mark Gearing.

Andrew Blankfield said: "We are delighted to have completed another deal for our long standing client BBC Worldwide and to have helped the shareholders in Ragdoll realise value for their much-loved creations. The deal continues a busy period of activity for the corporate team, which has made a strong start to the financial year."

DHX Media was represented by Mishcon de Reya.
