Fieldfisher boosts Brussels employment practice with new hires

European law firm Fieldfisher announces today the appointments of partner Stefan Nerinckx and team from Belgian firm Laga which includes senior associate Liesbet Vandenplas who until recently worked for Eubelius. The team joins the firm's Brussels office.

Stefan becomes co-head of the Belgian employment law practice, alongside partner Olivier Rijckaert.  Stefan's practice focuses on advising both national and international clients on employment, social security and business migration matters. The appointments will significantly strengthen the firm's European employment practice, bringing new know-how in international mobility law to the Brussels office.

Stefan is recognised by Chambers Europe and Legal 500 EMEA, with the latter stating he is "singled out as an 'excellent lawyer' who is 'reliable, understanding of business needs and possesses a broad and in-depth knowledge on employment law". He is also referenced in the "Who's Who of Business Lawyers" and the "Best Lawyers" list for Belgium.

The appointment of the new team brings the total number of lawyers in Brussels to 13 partners and 34 fee earners. The Brussels employment and benefits team forms part of the firm’s wider European employment & pensions practice, advising both domestic and international clients.

Eric Cusas, managing partner of the Brussels office, said: "Over the last three years, Olivier Rijckaert has built up a strong employment law practice that is well-regarded in the Belgian market. We are delighted to welcome Stefan Nerinckx to the firm. Stefan is a key player in the employment, international social security and business migration law field and his team will be a major asset to our growing Brussels office".

Olivier Rijckaert, partner and co-head of the Brussels Employment & Benefits practice, added: "The employment law market in Belgium is extremely competitive and only a few firms can demonstrate a leading reputation in this field. With the arrival of Stefan and his team, our Employment practice becomes one of the largest in any full-service firm in Belgium, allowing us to broaden the service we offer clients and to expand our reach in the market. These are very exciting times for our practice and our Brussels office".
