Fieldfisher advises on the sale of Connect TV Limited

Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP has advised the shareholders of Connect TV, the connected TV service provider, on the sale of the company to the communications infrastructure and media services company, Arqiva.

The Connect TV platform allows digital terrestrial television customers to access complementary services and content via the Freeview interactive channel, as well as subscription services and the opportunity to purchase goods.

Corporate / Commercial partner Michael Harte led on the deal assisted by senior associate Tom Martin, with Andrew Prowse and Mark Gearing advising on tax.

Michael Harte said: "We regularly advise technology companies on M&A deals and are at the cutting edge of digital media matters, having advised on the ground-breaking You View venture.  This is a key deal for Connect TV and we are pleased to have worked with them on this."

Charles Constable, Managing Director of Digital Platforms at Arqiva said: "Arqiva is dedicated to providing viewers across the UK with the best possible television experience.  The acquisition of Connect TV will enable us to provide viewers with a greater choice on a much wider scale.  We recognise the best in British entrepreneurial technology and look forward to working with the passionate team from Connect TV to cement the position of Digital Terrestrial Television as the primary delivery channel in the UK."

This deal reflects the strength of Fieldfisher's TMT sector expertise, with clients that include BBC, RIM and China Telecom.

Charles Russell advised Arqiva.
