David will serve a three year term when incumbent Matthew Lohn stands down after six years in the role.
David is a partner in the corporate team at Fieldfisher and advises on a wide range of transactions including M&A, joint ventures and corporate restructurings across a variety of sectors. He joined the firm as a trainee in 1990 and became a partner in 1999.
Michael Chissick, Managing Partner, Fieldfisher, comments: "Congratulations to David. He is a well-respected partner in the firm and has served as a member of the Supervisory Board for six years. I look forward to working with him over the next few years. I am also pleased that he will continue in a dual role as a fee-earner and Senior Partner.
"I would also like to thank Matthew Lohn for his achievements and commitment to the firm and our clients as Senior Partner in the last six years, and during his time as Managing Partner. It has been a period of huge geographic expansion and financial growth topped off with two major awards as law firm of the year in 2017 and 2018. Matthew will continue in his role as a partner in our market leading Public and Regulatory Law Group."
David Wilkinson, Senior Partner elect, Fieldfisher, comments: "I am very much looking forward to working closely with Michael and the firm's executive committee and supervisory board as we continue to grow and integrate our offices across Europe. Key parts of my role will be to ensure that our values remain at the heart of everything that we do and that we continue to engage with, and listen to, our clients to improve still further the quality and scope of our services."
The Senior Partner has a number of roles including chairing the firm's Supervisory Board and Partners' Meetings, engaging with clients and contacts to help build the firm's profile, and working with the Managing Partner on strategic decision making.
Since 2010, Fieldfisher has grown by 125 per cent and has opened in new jurisdictions including Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg and China. In that time it has also launched a number of adjacent and disruptive new brands including Condor Alternative Legal Services, Roscoe Reid (which pursues legal action on behalf of large groups of consumers), and, most recently, Cummings Fisher (a specialist law firm for hedge funds and alternatives assets).
