Fieldfisher Spain has recruited two partners and six lawyers in its Banking & Finance and Tax teams. The firm has also appointed a Counsel from Freshfields in Madrid.
The expansion is part of the Fieldfisher JAUSAS 2020 strategic plan and the firm's wider objective of expanding its market leading Financial Markets and Products team across Europe.
Jesús Estévez and Elizabeth Malagelada have joined the Madrid office as partners, along with new associates Claudia Abati, Guillermo Crespo, Soledad Mira and, and new lawyers Jesús Berges, Pablo Charlín and María Montes.
Jesús Estévez focuses on providing legal counsel to domestic and international financial institutions and business groups in a variety of complex financing operations. In a career spanning more than 20 years, he has advised international financial institutions and, in the field of corporate finance, has acted as legal counsel to both Spanish and international companies and top-tier business groups.
According to Estévez: “I am delighted to be joining Fieldfisher JAUSAS and helping to develop its financial services sector team across its international network."
Elizabeth Malagelada joins the firm as a Tax Partner. She has more than 15 years' experience providing tax advice on a wide range of transaction and product types to national and international financial institutions. She has also advised on the design and implementation of financial capital and debt products, as well as on some of the largest structured finance operations to have closed in Spain in recent years.

Jaime Rossi has also joined as Counsel in the Banking and Finance team joining from Magic Circle firm Freshfields.

This follows the firm's recent appointment of leading commodities lawyer Rashpaul Bahia. He joins Fieldfisher as a partner from Morgan Stanley where he has been advising on the build out of its EMEA power and gas trading business. He was previously a partner at Reed Smith.
