Fieldfisher's European IP team named in the 2021 World Trademark Review rankings

We're delighted that Fieldfisher's IP practices in Belgium, France, Spain and the UK have been recognised for their expertise in trade mark law in the prestigious World Trademark Review 2021 WTR1000 rankings.


Belgium

Our IP practice in Belgium is ranked in the silver tier with partners Stijn Debaene and Hakim Haouideg and Of Counsel Serge Flecijn named. In particular, our Brussels offering was commended for acting for 'some of the world’s most iconic international brands, including Playboy, as well as leading domestic players such as Telenet and Studio 100.' With the team's expertise in media and telecommunications and strides in sports law being praised.

France

Our French practice was ranked in the bronze tier and received a glowing review. Head, Nathalie Hadjadj-Cazier, who was named in the list of leading lawyers for enforcement and litigation and also prosecution and strategy was commended for putting the firm on the 'French trade mark scene' due to the team's 'winning streaks on both sides of the contentious/non-contentious divide.'

Spain

Our Spanish practice is also ranked in the bronze tier, with partner, Josep Carbonell noted for his expertise in prosecution and strategy. The practice was heralded as a ' potent force' and noted for 'tackling convoluted disputes with brio'

UK

Our UK IP offering is recognised as a silver tier practice, with co-heads John Linneker and Leighton Cassidy, as well as other partners; Nick Rose, Harriet Seymour, James Seadon, Amy Reynolds, Hastings Guise all named for their high calibre client work. As well as, David Bond and Gordon Drakes from the Commercial IP team.

In a glowing review of the UK's expertise, World Trademark Review praised the team for their victories in high profile cases, work with global giants and subject knowledge in media, technology, retail and sports.

On individual rankings, Matthias Berger from our German office was recognised as a silver tier recommended expert. With WTR1000 writing that he 'dispenses strategic advice to a varied clientele drawn from Europe, the United States and Canada. They also added that  international colleagues call him “one of the most commercially focused and responsive lawyers out there”.
