With more than 17 years of experience as a civil and commercial law practitioner, Rodrigo Martos Prat has excelled in the field of mergers and acquisitions and complex joint-ventures, advising international investors (mainly private equity funds and multinationals) and family businesses in acquisition, merger, restructuring, financing and insolvency transactions. His expertise has also extended to a variety of other sectors such as automotive, engineering, transport, food and healthcare, as well as big industry, paper, media and energy.
In recent years, he has been recognised by Chambers Europe's Lawyers Directory as "Outstanding M&A lawyer in the Spanish market", as well as being awarded the 40 Lawyers under 40 award in 2017 for his distinguished experience in the Spanish legal profession. These awards are based on the meticulous work he carries out together with his team and his clients when carrying out any M&A transaction, thus giving him the confidence and expertise to perform work of the highest distinction.
Moreover, he participates as Secretary of the Board of Directors of several multinationals, accompanying investors in the complete negotiation cycle until the sale. He has advised international funds on multiple acquisitions of subsidiaries in Spain and, subsequently, on their restructuring and successful sale.
He has a professional background in several international law firms such as Cuatrecasas (member of the French Desk) and Clifford Chance (member of the Private Equity team). Before joining Fieldfisher as Director of the Madrid office, he was a founding partner of the mergers, acquisitions and litigation boutique GMQ.
At the academic level, he has developed his studies at the Complutense University of Madrid and has a Master's Degree in Business Law at the School of Legal Practice of the same institution. He has collaborated as a lecturer in ICADE's Master's programme in Legal Consultancy and has taught commercial law in the practicum to students in their last year of studies. He has also worked as a lecturer in the Master's programme in Legal Advice at the Carlos III University.
Thanks to its linguistic versatility, it can advise its clients in three different languages: English, French and Spanish.
