Professional background

I have extensive dispute resolution experience with a particular focus on joint venture and shareholder disputes, directors' duties and misfeasance claims, as well as civil fraud, international asset-tracing and enforcement cases.

In addition to my litigation practice, I am a corporate investigations and risk advisory specialist. I advise clients on the full breadth of financial crime issues, from educating on best practice preventative action, through to running internal, regulatory and prosecutor led investigations. I have acted on a number of high-profile investigations involving fraud, bribery and corruption allegations, sanctions breaches and dawn raids.

My client base operates predominantly in the EMEA and APAC regions and includes domestic and global organisations in the financial services, oil and gas, green energy, retail and pharma sectors.

Recent cases:

  • Represented a global financial institution in a follow-on action from the FX manipulation investigations in the US for alleged misrepresentation and breach of confidence in respect of a high-profile corporate acquisition.
  • Represented a UK headquartered investment bank in a deceit claim valued at in excess of £600m following their involvement in the acquisition of an international business.
  • Represented a Chinese state-owned company focused in the marine and offshore energy industry in a derivative claim against a former director of a joint venture entity.
  • Advised a NY listed global alternative asset management company in respect of the post-acquisition anti-bribery and corruption risk posed by its Chinese subsidiary, leading the subsequent internal investigation and overseeing remedial actions.
  • Provided export control and sanctions risk advice to a Nordic investment fund in respect of a proposed joint venture investment in the Middle East.
  • Represented a UK subsidiary of a leading Asian investment bank in respect of regulatory investigations into allegations of market abuse commenced by the London Metals Exchange and the Financial Conduct Authority.

My spare time is spent with my family and enjoying all things equestrian.

New fraud offence could lead to uptick in deferred prosecution agreements

19.12.2024
In November, the UK government published long-awaited guidance about a "reasonable procedures" defence against the new corporate failure to prevent fraud (FTPF) offence under section 204 of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA). Qualifying corporates now face a race against time to review their existing fraud prevention frameworks before the offence goes live on September 1, 2025.
