I advise on a wide range of competition issues, including state aid, cartels, licensing agreements, merger control filings, M&A negotiations, abuse of dominance cases, and distribution agreements, as well as compliance with the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation. I also assist clients navigating the web of Foreign Direct Investment clearances required in Europe. Whether acting for government entities or privately and publicly owned companies, I work closely with clients to anticipate risks and seize opportunities.
My experience spans multiple industries, including energy, chemicals, automotive, financial services, recycling and waste management, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, telecom, construction, renewables, media, private equity, and the broader financial sector.
I represent clients before national competition authorities and the European Commission, and I design defense strategies and compliance programs to help you avoid fines or the recovery of unlawful state aid.
I have guided clients through Phase I and Phase II merger clearance investigations worldwide, and I regularly advise on compliance audits, immunity and leniency applications, and proactive risk management under competition law. I also bring specialized expertise in intellectual property licensing, particularly where competition law imposes restrictions.
Throughout my career, I have represented clients before the European Commission, the European Court of Justice, the Belgian Competition Authority, the Brussels Court of Appeals, the New Caledonian Competition Authority, the Paris Court of Appeals, and the Luxembourg Competition Authority. I have also acted as co-counsel in proceedings before major competition authorities globally and served as a subject matter expert auditing competition authorities’ operations and outputs.
