Professional background

I regularly secure substantial compensation for children and adults left catastrophically injured as a result of medical negligence. I also act for families whose relatives have died following negligence.

My particular interests include claims involving obstetrics (brain injury at birth, cerebral palsy, traumatic delivery); fetal medicine (failure to diagnose abnormalities during pregnancy leading to 'wrongful birth' claims); neonatal and paediatric medicine; amputations (including due to compartment syndrome); delays in diagnosis (including meningitis, sepsis, cancer), spinal injury, bowel surgery, orthopaedic and neurosurgery.

I act for families at inquests following the death of a relative because of failings in medical care.

I am a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and work with leading patient safety charity Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA).

I am committed to investigating claims thoroughly to ensure clients obtain explanations as to what went wrong and to maximise compensation for the injuries suffered.

Recent case highlights include securing a multi-million pound award for a boy brain injured at birth and a widely reported record award for a child who suffered amputations to all four of her limbs following a delay in diagnosis of meningococcal sepsis. The funds will ensure access to appropriate care, therapy, equipment and accommodation to help support these children for life.

From my first contact with Fieldfisher, and particularly Deborah Nadel, I felt listened to and cared for. This was a terrible time of our lives. I knew my son had been wronged but as a family we were devastated and so despite being an experienced professional myself I felt completely lost. Deborah, and team, gave me confidence to face the Coroner’s inquest and ask the right questions thus ensuring the conclusions gave a full and frank reflection on the care my son received from the Trust.
Client
