On behalf of the asbestos team, Bridget Collier attended the Greater Manchester Asbestos Support Group Action Mesothelioma Day. The event brought together various stakeholders who called for urgent reforms and highlighted the pressing issues surrounding asbestos-related diseases.

Prominent speakers including Rob Rayner from GMAVSG, Lisa Clarke from Mesothelioma UK, and MP Rebecca Long-Baily and Debbie Abrahams highlighted the need for change and called on authorities to take action.

Rob Rayner, the chair of the Forum of Asbestos Support Groups, spoke about ongoing efforts to secure contributions from Cape Asbestos for research into mesothelioma treatments. Cape Asbestos, a company that manufactured asbestos materials extensively used in construction across the UK.

Lisa Clarke addressed Mesothelioma UK's campaign "Don't let the Dust Settle." to encourage the Government to establish a central register documenting the location and condition of all asbestos. It advocates for the safe removal of asbestos, with a particular focus on prioritizing schools and hospitals.
