The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland has launched a public consultation on Draft Guidelines for the Sale and Supply of Non-Prescription Medicinal Products and is seeking feedback from members of the public on this topic. The guidelines seek to ensure pharmacist and pharmacy compliance with Regulations 5(1)(d), 5(1)(h) and 10 of the Regulation of Retail Pharmacy Businesses Regulations (S.I. No. 488 of 2008). The 2008 Regulations set out the legal requirements for the sale and supply of non-prescription medicines from a pharmacy, regardless of whether these sales occur in-person or at a distance through online purchases from a pharmacy's website. The Regulations also include guidance in relation to patient counselling, consultation and internet supply. Feedback can be provided to the PSI by completing a short online questionnaire, or email consultation@psi.ie with your comments on or before 5pm on Wednesday, 22 November 2017.
