The Medical Council will today launch the 8th Edition of the Guide to Professional Conduct and Ethics. The guide was updated following a public consultation process and encompasses the following key issues relating to the practice of medicine:
- professional conduct
- responsibilities to patients
- medical records and confidentiality
- consent to medical treatments
The 8th Edition of the Guide is published today in conjunction with a study in respect of trust in the profession which was commissioned by the Medical Council. The study provides key information in respect of the medical profession in Ireland in 2016. The research, carried out by Amárach in conjunction with the Medical Council, found that doctors are the most trusted profession in Ireland today.
