Fieldfisher JAUSAS becomes Fieldfisher

02/11/2021

Locations

Spain, United Kingdom

After three years as Fieldfisher JAUSAS, the firm's Spanish offices are coming under the umbrella of the European law firm's unified corporate brand.

Fieldfisher JAUSAS has taken the definitive step of becoming Fieldfisher Spain after approving its 2021-2024 strategic plan last July and as part of the integration process between both firms.

Fieldfisher Spain maintains the values and work philosophy that have characterised it over the last 55 years as JAUSAS, and will continue to share synergies and joint developments with Fieldfisher, putting the focus on projects with a large international component.

Fieldfisher Spain's new name is effective from 1 November 2021.

Three years as Fieldfisher JAUSAS

On 26 September 2018, after signing the first agreement with Fieldfisher, JAUSAS was renamed Fieldfisher JAUSAS. Within the framework of the new agreement signed on 15 September 2021, Fieldfisher Spain retains its workforce of nearly 100 qualified lawyers and offices in Barcelona and Madrid.

The partnership between the firms is based on systems integration, sharing know-how and joint business development and commercial activity. The national brand maintains its organisational independence from the headquarters located in London.

Commenting on the new name, Fieldfisher Spain's Managing Partner Jordi Ruiz de Villa said:

“Following three years of a fruitful relationship with Fieldfisher, and after having signed a renewal of our agreements to ensure greater stability and depth, it makes sense to cease using the JAUSAS brand and focus on the Fieldfisher brand, which is how we are known by international customers.

“We are proud to belong to this great family and to be able to expand our horizons by attracting new talent that allows us to offer more and better services to increasingly sophisticated and larger clients”.

Michael Chissick, Fieldfisher Managing Partner, added:

"Our Spanish offices have been an immense credit to the Fieldfisher name since we began our partnership in 2018. Bringing them within a unified brand will further strengthen the relationship as we continue to collaborate on cross-border matters for our clients.

"Fieldfisher Spain's reputation as a leading provider of public and regulatory, banking and finance, litigation, insolvency and corporate legal services in particular have helped bolster Fieldfisher's international presence and we look forward to taking our shared capabilities forward into the future."

Future Plans for the brand

Fieldfisher Spain is experiencing a year of robust growth. The firm is immersed in the execution of its 2021-24 strategic plan, which has led it to incorporate six partners throughout the past year, as well as expanding and reinforcing several of its areas of practice such as new technologies, public and regulatory law, among others.

Managing Partner Jordi Ruiz de Villa added:

“We are focused on turning Fieldfisher into a benchmark in the mid-market sector of international firms in Spain, while driving growth to be able to address greater professional challenges each year.

"We expect to incorporate two new equity partners in the Barcelona office in the next 12 months”
