European law firm Fieldfisher is strengthening its Munich office with the appointment of two female partners.

Silke Goschler and Dr Susanne Weckbach will further strengthen Fieldfisher's well-established German Commercial law practice, having previously both worked as counsel at DLA Piper.

Together with experienced Hamburg Commercial partner Sara Bandehzadeh, they will continue to develop the Commercial group.

Susanne Weckbach and Silke Goschler have been advising national and multinational companies on commercial matters for over a decade.

Susanne advises companies on all legal aspects of trade and distribution, from procurement and manufacturing to sales and distribution. She specialises in drafting and negotiation complex contracts and has industry knowledge in the automotive, chemical and industrial goods sectors.

Susanne started at Fieldfisher on 1 November 2023.

Silke, who joins the team on 1 December 2023, has a particular focus on structuring distribution systems and leasing.

She is especially experienced in the automotive, consumer goods and retail, and industrial goods sectors.

Together, Silke and Susanne form a strong tandem of Commercial expertise, providing comprehensive advice to clients.

Both represent a significant addition to Fieldfisher's Commercial practice, and expand the primarily Hamburg-based team with a presence in Munich.

Their appointment is a further expression of the firm's continued growth and ambitions in Germany.

The two new partners will contribute their experience in particular in the automotive sector, an area where the firm has a leading position, following the appointment in 2022 of a team led by Dispute Resolution Partner Philipp Duncker, with notable expertise in the promising areas of electromobility and autonomous driving.

Commenting on the dual appointment, Philipp Plog, Managing Partner at Fieldfisher Germany said:

"We are thrilled to welcome two new partners to Fieldfisher, Silke and Susanne, who are a perfectly coordinated team. Their combined experience and commitment to excellence are an asset to our firm and the Munich office."

"We look forward to the coming years in which they will continue to develop their areas of expertise together with the existing team."

With the two new partners, who will each work part-time, the firm is also emphasising its claim to create more diversity, especially in the partnership structure, and to promote an inclusive working environment with flexible models. Among the top 50 commercial law firms in Germany, Fieldfisher already holds one of the top positions in terms of the proportion of women among all lawyers in this year's JUVE azur100 evaluation and is now increasing this proportion once again.
