European law firm Fieldfisher has today announced the appointment of international arbitration specialist Ania Farren as a partner in its Dispute Resolution practice in London.

Ania is a highly experienced arbitration practitioner and arbitrator, who has advised and represented States and corporate entities in a wide variety of international dispute resolution and public international law matters, including commercial and investment treaty arbitrations. Ania also regularly sits as an independent arbitrator.

Ania started her career at Freshfields before moving to the dedicated arbitration team at Shearman & Sterling in Paris. She spent the majority of her career within arbitration and dispute resolution legal entities in London before taking on a role as Managing Director at Vannin Capital, one of the largest third party funders. She joins Fieldfisher from Omnia Strategy LLP.

Ania is the first woman to hold the position as Chair of the ICC UK Committee on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution, having previously held its Vice Chair position. She is the co-Chair of the International Arbitration Charity Ball Committee, a member of the ICCA / Queen Mary task-force on Third Party Funding, and Chair of the Sub-Committee on privilege.

Ania is the third female partner to join Fieldfisher's Dispute Resolution team in London in the last 12 months, following the recruitment of Priyanka Kapoor, who specialises in commercial disputes and white collar crime, and Shivani Sanghi, an international arbitration specialist. The Fieldfisher international arbitration group was also strengthened in September 2022 when arbitration partner Philipp Duncker joined the firm's Munich office from Hogan Lovells.

Dispute Resolution is the largest department in Fieldfisher's network and has grown exponentially over the last few years. With over 400 contentious lawyers across the firm's European network, disputes work represents an ever-increasing percentage of Fieldfisher’s total turnover.

Ania will be part of Fieldfisher's GAR 100 ranked International Arbitration practice, and will work closely with a team of international arbitration specialists based across Europe. The practice has particularly strong arbitration hubs in its London, Paris, Brussels and Munich offices with a stated ambition to continue to grow in the near future. This stellar group of recognised international arbitration lawyers, is rated by clients as the "go to team" for its technical expertise, commerciality and client service in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations.
